Forum Belgrade 2007 – "A Soul for Europe"
The first international conference on culture following the Balkan wars called for new paths of co-operation between civil society and the world of politics.
Forum Belgrade was held on 30 and 31 March 2007 in the Serbian capital with over 200 attendees from the cultural, political and business sector. Together, it was discussed how culture can contribute to the development of a sustainable structure for civil society, politics and the economy.
Speakers included EU Commissioner Meglena Kuneva; the Members of the European Parliament Doris Pack and Hannes Swoboda; Marijana Grandits, Director of the Stability Pact for South-Eastern Europe; high-ranking political representatives from the participating countries, including the mayor of Belgrade Nenad Bogdanović and the Serbian Minister of Culture Dragan Kojadinović; as well as numerous decision-makers in non-institutional cultural organisations, among them Nevenka Koprivsek, Power Station Ljubljana / Bunker Production and Rarita Zbranca, AltArt Foundation, Cluj, Romania. Participants came from Albania, Austria, Belgium, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Germany, Great Britain, Hungary, Macedonia, Moldavia, Montenegro, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Switzerland and Ukraine.
